Relays!!
Last Sunday 58 members of The Orange Runners Club gathered atElephantParkfor a teams relay 6km event. Each pair run against their personal 3k handicap time and then the computer worked out their total 6k time plus each handicap to determine the winner.
Mitch Williamson started first in his team and with an amazing show of running ran the first lap in a blistering 2:30 flat.
First home were Connor Whiteley and Daryl Roweth with a total time of 21:16,
Nicole Williamson and Amber Rich ran 21:29, Stephen Blackwood and Rod Draper ran 21:38 with Mitch Williamson and Lauralie Francis running 21:44.
With their handicap added, the winning team was Gai Strike and Sharon Fahy.
Afterwards we had a BBQ lunch and the club ran Melbourne Cup sweeps.
On Wednesday 83 turned up for ourElephantParkmid-week run.
Rodney Draper backed up Sunday’s relays event running a time of 9:21 and Kyle James Ostini running 10:38. The winner on handicap was Abby Dean.
P.B.’s reported were Glen Maxwell 4 seconds, Jessie Dean 7 seconds, Beck Halls 8 seconds and Nic Rosser an impressive 38 seconds.
Daryl Roweth was presented with a certificate for 100 runs with The Orange Runners Club, congratulations Daryl.
A note to members about nominations for runner of the year and junior runner of the year to please get their nomination form in and also those wishing to go to our annual Christmas party to please submit your name along with payment.
This weekend has many members participating in a few different events.
First is the Carcoar cup weekend with aMarathon, Half marathon and various other events over the weekend.
Secondly, on Sunday is the Rebel Sports Run 4 Fun presented by The Sun-Herald at Sydney Olympic Park. Finishing inside the ANZ stadium is the draw card giving runners the experience of Olympic glory.
And a big mention about our Nathan Sutherland who will compete in the New York Marathon on Sunday 6th November.
And for those staying at home our local Sunday event will be atBerrileeForestfor a 4.4 or 8.8K run.
