Club cleans up at Mudgee festival
Another weekend when runners club members were split between events, the local Sunday run at Brabham and the Mudgee Running Festival.
A smaller contingent than previous years (of Orange runners) attended but still dominated the results in the 5 and 10k on the Saturday. Mitch Williamson (overall winner) and sister Nicole (female winner), winning the 5k and top junior Kyle Ostini, taking out the 10k race.

Sundays runners were greeted with a beautiful morning for running as 80 odd runners enjoyed the morning walk, jog or run.
Doing the 1.75k course, mighty mouse Logan Whiteley was too quick for all, finishing in 9min. flat to finish in front of Andrew Cooper and overall handicap winner Bailey ‘Parra’ Penrose. Of the ladies there was only a second or two between Denise Quinlan (14.48) and Tanya Connolly, while Michelle Lindsay was third home.
Estelle Dean was in the groove over the 2 lap 3.5k course running 14.51 to finish ahead of Katherine Lindsay and Lily Craig. Young Mitchell Cooper 15.30 was quick out of the blocks and left a trail of older guys in his wake. Alistair Merrifield was the next one home leading the older brigade ahead of Craig Jones.
In the 5.25k race the fiercest and most closely contested racing saw teenager Connor Whiteley (21.37) edge out mate Jack Daintith by 2 seconds. Behind this pair, Luke Thorley who has only started running with the club in the last month or so, was only 16 seconds off this hot pace. The ladies saw Kathy Penrose (41.14) finish clear of the improving Anna Daintith and her offsider Kim Roweth who are still arguing over who finished second.
In the 7k, 4 lap race Brad Simmons was again the quickest runner with a time of 26.36 to finish comfortably ahead of Iain McLean and Daryl Roweth.
Sue Dean (30.21) was again a standout in the ladies with Karen Neal and Mrs Consistency Kim Jarvis not too far behind.
Wednesday night saw 100 + starters tackle the slightly warmer than normal conditions with a few PB’s dominated by the Mihalich family.
Alison Barker 14s, Luka Mihalich 36s, Kylie Mihalich 7s, Jasper Mihalich 9s, Estelle Dean 1s. Jack Daintith was the quickest on the night with 10.42 while Kynan Lane was the overall winner doing 13.16 for his 3 laps.
Many runners will be heading to Dubbo for the Dubbo Stampede, 5k, 10k & 21.1k including a lap around the zoo. For everyone else Sunday’s run is at the Botanic Gardens
