Amber leader of the pack
Article by Kinisha Roweth
On Sunday morning 61 runners club members travelled out to the beautiful Lake Canobolas area to enjoy a walk or run around the track which includes a mixture of road, grass, gravel paths, steel platform and wooden bridges.
Amber Rich again burnt up the track on the 1 lap 3km journey in a strong 12:52, to lead home in form running mum Loiuse Lloyd and the quietly spoken Lily Craig at the head of a large chasing pack.
Young Hugh Corcoran (15:10) showed dad how it’s done to lead home the men in the 3k. Mr PB (personal best) Thomas Lloyd crossed the line in second ahead of Hugh’s dad Jamie Corcoran.
When it came to the 2 lap 6km run Mark Chapman (24.23) blitzed the course with Iain McLean and Jack Daintith leading another large pack where the first 6 runners finished within three minutes.
Janet Martin (26:08) mixed it with the boys, to finish ahead of Suzanne Coulson-Knight. Consistent long distance competitor Rodney Hocking was the handicap winner when he completed the 6km run in 43:20. Russell Tym also put in another strong performance over the 6k recording a strong 31:53 showing the consistency of his 300 runs which was recognised recently with a certificate presentation.
Another 60 odd runners turned out on Wednesday at Elephant Park with Brad Simmons cruising around with the fastest time of 10:44. It was good to see El Presidenti Frank Ostini also back on the track as he pushed out a very respectable 11:38. Winner on the night however was Rayma Parker who recorded a very consistent 17:12 for the 3 laps.
