Last Sunday, Orange Runners Club held its next monthly trail run in crisp yet beautiful weather. 6 members undertook a 13.3km run in the 4th Crossing area, With Mitch Essex recording the fastest mens time (84:49) and Meg Reeves recording the fastest ladies time (84:49). Congratulations to the trail runners who undertook this challenging outing.
Later in the morning, the regular weekend run was held at the Botanic Gardens, where 74 members had the choice of 1-6 laps of a 1.6km course around the gardens. The first two finishers by gender for each distance are as follows:
1 lap – Male: Elliot Bangert (6:24) and Rikky Bangert (14:15). Female: Sally Kitto (16:50) and Rosie Corcoran (16:52).
2 laps – Male: Fred Bangert (14:25) and Gareth Thomas (15:40) Female: Tanya Connolly (18:06) and Alicia Ross (18:51).
3 laps – Male: Lachlan Ross (21:27) and Alistair Merrifield (21:39). Female: Ella Lamrock (23:38) and Lily Craig (23:42).
4 laps – Male: Stephen Wensley (38:48) Female: Kim Jarvis (38:57) and Sue Betts (46:36)
5 laps – Men: Russell Tym (45:27), and Stewart Vidler (47:10). Women: Katherine Wannan (45:35), and Renai McArdle (51:04).
6 laps – Men: Jack Daintith (38:25) and Joel Kitto (40:06). Women: Leanne Corcoran (37:06) and Ursula Wilson (40:13).
A giant thumbs up to all who participated, Ursula Wilson was declared the winner. Fastest lap of the morning belonged to Thomas Dale who clocked a 6:24 for his only lap.
The Wednesday afternoon Elephant Park 3 lap handicap event saw 50 competitors take part in cold conditions. The fastest men were Connor Whiteley (10:52), Jack Daintith (11:34) and Elliot Bangert (11:40). The fastest ladies were Ursula Wilson (12:22), Ella Lamrock (12:34) and Eva Keegan (12:53). Fastest lap of the Elephant Park circuit was clocked by Connor Whitely at 3:09 for his last lap. PB’s were achieved by John Keegan (74s), and Eva Keegan (10s). John West was declared the overall winner. Well done to all who took part.
Last Weekend, the 47th annual running of the Sydney City to Surf took place. Club members who attended did us proud, including Anthony and Hugh Daintith (the latter in his maiden City to Surf outing) who both clocked a 77:45. Frank Ostini clocked 64:09, Fiona and James Littlejohn clocked around 101 minutes and long-term club member Mike Cooper ran a 65:33. Finally, special mention to Simon Lun, who in the last 12 months beat a cancer diagnosis to run an 81 minute race. Congratulations to all!
This Sunday sees the club back at Bargwanna Rd, where members will have the opportunity to complete a 3km, 5km or 10km out and back course. Please note that for winter the Wednesday Handicap Time Trial run at Elephant Park will commence at 4:45pm with a mass start.
