EDITORIAL REPORT FOR CWD Saturday 2nd April 2022

Last Sunday, while the rain came and went, 38 members looped around the picturesque Lake Canobolas for their morning run/walk.

The leading club members in each distance were:

2.5km

Female – Isobel Curran 14:08, Lacey Curran 14:14, Angela Kauter 17:00.
Male – Baden Curran 11:52, Nicholas Irwin 13:03, Mike Cooper 16:54.

5km
Female – Milla Jurd 25:15, Lucy Jurd 28:20, Kelly Jurd 28:41.
Male – Iain Mclean 24:48, Alex Irwin 28:11, Bill Fairgrieve 30:55.

7.5km
Female – Kim Roweth 46:35, Jenny Clough 48:42, Anna Daintith 1:03:01.
Male – Andrew McArdle 1:01:55.

10km
Female – Jane Fairgrieve 1:03:09, Karren Skelton 1:11:16.
Male – Chris Clough 44:25, Hugh Daintith 49:22, Daryl Roweth 50:09.

A number of brave members completed the Great Volcanic Challenge on Sunday, running 11km with plenty of climbing for the competitors. Overall, Nicola Blore was the third woman to cross the line. ORC members that finished in the top 10 of their age group:

50-59 2nd Kate Thornton 1:32:12, 6th Kim Jarvis 1:41:00.
60-69 2nd Rhonda Jones 1:50:51.

66 members made the most of the beautiful afternoon at Wednesday’s Elephant Park run. In the normal 3 lap course the top three males were Peter Finlay 10:56, Jack Daintith 10:56 and Luke Hockey 11:26. Completing the top three ladies were Nicola Blore 12:53, Abbey Wilkins 13:23 and Charlotte Meiring 13:27. Personal bests for their 3 laps were recorded this week by Nicholas Irwin 2min2secs, Will Robinson 15secs, Emily Meiring 2min, Samantha Pluymers 19secs, James Thomas 13secs, Jessica Curran 3min11secs and Holly Wilkins 3min13secs.

In the Junior 600m run, siblings Lara and Elijah Yaroslavceff raced it off. Lara ran an amazing 5:58, while brother Elijah ran 8:37. Well done to you both, a very special race.

Amy Sullivan was recognised for her milestone achievement this week finally getting to 25 club runs.

This Sunday’s run location is Emu Swamp Road, Lucknow. With announcements and start to commence at 8.30am approx. and the starting window closing at 9am. Distances marked out will be 3.2km, 4.6km, 7.5km and 10km. Please check the website for more course information.

Wednesday runs will commence at 4pm and you can run any time after that as long as you are finished by 5:30pm.
