EDITORIAL REPORT FOR CWD Saturday 29th January 2022

Last Sunday, we returned to a club favourite, Clergate. 57 members took to the start line and pushed through the heat to complete one of the four available distances. It was great to see some newcomers join in such a beautiful run.

The leading club members in each distance were:

3km
Female – Denise Quinlan 27:52, Olivia Blore 31:26, Emily Blore 38:17.
Male – Craig Penrose 17:33, Trevor Jones 23:55, John Hannan 28:35.

5km
Female – Leanne Corcoran 22:15, Kinisha Roweth 26:39, Kim Roweth 28:45.
Male – Gary Taylor 30:50, Bill Fairgrieve 31:49, Chris Clough 36:54.

7.5km
Female – Angela Kauter 54:04, Rosemary Elkington 57:16, Lyn O’Mara 59:02.
Male – Phil Cranney 34:58, Hugh Daintith 37:20, Maxwell Horne 39:51.

10km
Female – Nicola Blore 49:47, Ayako Kusui 55:17, Juste Kucinskaite 56:54.
Male – Jack Daintith 41:47, Mark Thomas 45:29, Eddie Feeney 50:51.

 

Wednesday’s Elephant Park run was hot and humid with 37 members still powering around the track completing 1, 2 or 3 laps. Top three males were Peter Finlay 10:19, Mark Thomas 12:01 and Phillip Thomas 12:01. Completing the top three ladies were Kinisha Roweth 13:07, Courtney Hayes 13:31 and Luisa Sims 14:35.

A personal best was recorded this week by Phillip Thomas, knocking 48 seconds off, running a speedy 12:01.

Congratulations to our achievement medal receivers this week: Olivia Blore 25 runs and Maxwell Horne 25 runs.

This Sunday’s run is location is our annual run at Highland Heritage, with the start between 8:30am and 9am. The loop distance is 2km and you can do it 1 to 5 times. Please check the website for more course information. Safety warning for snakes if it is a warm morning.

Wednesday runs will commence at 4pm and you can run any time after that as long as you are finished by 5:30pm.

The Orange Running Festival is getting closer with 5 weeks to go. 5th and 6th of March 2022 at Gosling Creek. Get yourself entered on the festival website, there is a distance for everyone.
