EDITORIAL REPORT FOR CWD Saturday 23rd April 2022

Kinisha Roweth

Our AGM is this Thursday the 5th of May at Hotel Canobolas at 7pm. You must be a financial member to vote at this meeting. As our club is run solely on the fantastic volunteers, we need some people to step up and fill in some positions. Remember there is pizza provided at the end of the meeting. See you all there.

Last week our Junior Support Program was announced. This is available to our members who reach District, Regional, State or Nationals in cross country or athletics through their respective school system. The criteria and support received was included in the recent email from President Jude.

Last Sunday the run was held at Shiralee, which is always a little sneaky challenge. Still 59 members turned up in their pursuit of fitness and completed a run or walk. A huge thank you to Justine and Karren for stepping up and running the timing of the event.

The placegetters in each distance were:

2km
Female – Zoe Finlay 12:07, Heidi Finlay 14:28, Laura Primrose 17:14.
Male – Angus Finlay 9:31, Peter Finlay 17:10, George Rutledge 23:48.

4km
Female – Kinisha Roweth 20:44, Kim Roweth 23:51, Abigail White 24:13.
Male – Iain Mclean 19:32, Bill Fairgrieve 24:36, Gary Taylor 25:40.

8km
Female – Ayako Kusui 42:10, Claire Gates 45:50, Kim Jarvis 47:51.
Male – Mark Thomas 34:56, Hugh Daintith 38:06, Mike Cooper 41:56.

12km
Female – Juste Kucinskaite 1:10:47.
Male – Jack Daintith 47:44, Luke Hockey 54:49, Maxwell Horne 59:06.

For our usual Wednesday run, 20 members dashed around Elephant Park in the rain completing 1, 2 or 3 laps. Top three males were Jack Daintith 10:07, Peter Finlay 10:14 and Maxwell Horne 12:16. The top three females were Leanne Corcoran 12:57, Jessica Curran 14:46 and Kim Jarvis 15:32. Well done everyone. Personal bests for their 3 laps were recorded this week by Jessica Curran knocking off 3 seconds down to 14:46.

This Sunday’s run has been changed to Jack Brabham Park due to the continuing wet conditions, where you must start between 8:30 and 9am. Each lap is 1.75km and you have the option of 1 to 6 laps. Wednesday runs will commence at 4pm and you can run any time after that as long as you are finished by 5:30pm.
