EDITORIAL REPORT FOR CWD Saturday 30th July 2022

Last Sunday 49 members attended the club run at Spring Creek Dam. The course was out and back, a 4.8km lap, The morning started foggy but once we all stretched out legs along the dam side the sun broke through, and it was a beautiful morning.

The fastest in each distance were:

2.4km
Female – Milla Jurd 10:45, Lucy Jurd 11:08, Emily Meiring 13:46
Male – Trevor Jones 18:18, Richard Meiring 18:30

4.8km
Female – Claire Gates 24:04, Jannell Hooper 25:11, Kelly Jurd 26:38
Male – Adam Skelton 23:31, Jacob Skelton 26:23, Gary Taylor 29:46

7.2km
Female – Colette Robinson 44:18, Alicia Ross 47:58, Anna Daintith 1:00:49
Male – Peter Finlay 27:46, Mike Cooper 42:02, Ben Lumsdaine 46:36

Female – Ayako Kusui 52:00, Sarah Passey 57:30, Celeste Russell 58:02
Male – Jack Daintith 41:00, Chris Clough 42:12, Maxwell Horne 42:39

For our usual Wednesday run 48 members attended Elephant Park completing 1, 2 or 3 laps. Top three males were Peter Finlay 10:13, Luke Hockey 10:45 and Maxwell Horne 11:06. The top three females were Nicola Blore 12:40, Jessica Curran 13:53 and Claire Gates 14:00.

Personal bests were recorded by Maxwell Horne by 22 seconds, Jessica Curran by 12 seconds, Jannell Hooper by 4 seconds, Karren Skelton by 1:27, Zoe Finlay by 9:33 and Cooper Bennett by 27 seconds.

Achievement Medals were awarded to Lacey Curran with 25 runs.

To all Orange Runners Club members there is the exciting opportunity to participate in the ‘Test’ 2023 World Athletics Cross Country Championships. The event will be a great and unique opportunity for all athletes to run on the World Cross Country Championships Bathurst 2023 course. The event will take place on the 7th of August starting at 11am.

A special Mention to some of our members who participated in the Shoalhaven Summit 23km trail run event. Due to the weather conditions the course was changed but was equally as exciting for all involved. A congratulations to Kate Wight 3:11:00 and John Betts 3:05:00 (1st in age group).

There is a trail run organised for 2:15 this Saturday the 30th, starting on Mitchells Way, the club encourages all members to attend and experience all that trail running has to offer.

This Sunday’s run is at Shiralee where members have the choice of 2km, 4km, 8km or 12km. This course is a mix of road and dirt trail/road, please take necessary precautions whilst on course and wear/bring appropriate attire for the conditions. Wednesday’s run will commence at 4:35pm followed by a mass start at 4:45 and please be finished by 5:30pm.
