The ever popular Botanic Gardens was the location of Sunday’s run with 110 members tackling the 1.6k, 3.2, 4.8, 6.4, 8 and 9.6 options. Thanks always to handicapper and results guru Michael Sharp for recording and posting the times for us all twice a week.

Young speedster Abigail McLean was declared the winner, finishing the 1.6km in 15 minutes flat just behind siblings Oliver and Cameron who both crossed the line in 12.14. It was a family effort, great to see mum Alex out on the hills while dad Iain took the 4.8km in 19.44. Team McLean are looking the goods for the upcoming Orange Running Festival.

The 3 lap 4.8km was the pick for most members with Amber Rich, Alicia Ross and Mia Postlewaite leading the females while Hugh and Alistair weren’t far behind Iain McLean. Noel Annett and Jane Fairgrieve were first across the line for the 9.6km. Leanne Corcoran smashed the 8km while Karen Neal and Gareth Thomas took out the 6.4km.

Congratulations to Brian Rix who ran the NSW Country track and field in Wollongong recently. In his distinguished age group of 75-79 Brian achieved 1st in the 3km, 1st in 1500m, 1st in the 2km steeplechase and 3rd in the 400m. Nicole and Mitch Williamson were also spotted on the track winning their respective age categories in the 3km.

Wednesday’s run saw school back and a crowd of 92 on the track. Adam Reeves fought off Brad Simmons to be the first home in a time of 11.01 while Leanne Corcoran passed Lily Craig on the back straight to cross in 12.06. It was great to see so many families returning for the Elephant Park loop including the Sammuts, Farquharsons and Chandler-Sullivans with Pip Farquharson the winner. On top of the 3km Graham ‘Coach’ Fahey roped in some members for extra boot camp training ahead of the Running Festival.

Speaking of, don’t forget to let Festival Coordinators Stewart and Letitia Vidler know if you can help out on Saturday or Sunday of the Orange Running Festival on 24-25 February.

Sunday’s run is at 9am at Jack Brabham Oval. The trail run is also an option for the early bids, be at Fourth Crossing at 645 with your mandatory gear.
