Sunday morning produced a beautiful morning and the Orange Runners Club members who travelled out to the Berrilee Road track enjoyed what is one of the best runs on the calendar. A big congratulations to John West and the other cyclists who managed to ride passed the dog at the caretakers cottage. Also a few late starters were noticed including usual suspect Mike Cooper and young gun Ella Lamrock who introduced a run up start over the timing mats from the family car.

In the 4km sprint Mitchell Cooper (16.30) led from start to finish, to also claim the overall handicap win and beat home another young front runner in Jack Daintith. The clubs most improved runner for 2013, Craig Penrose, headed the chase pack to finish 3rd. In the ladies 4km Amber Rich (17.07) kept pace with the front running boys, while juniors Lily Craig and Ella Lamrock were impressive as they picked up the placings.

Mark Chapman showed the way in the 8.1km testing run as he proved too quick for the rest of the field. Mitch Essex worked his way into second spot and Daryl Roweth picked up the 3rd fastest time.

Recording a strong win in the ladies 8.1km was relatively new member Ursula Wilson. Ursula (41.20) has been on the improve each run with the club and finished ahead of Julie Chapman and Amanda Gregor.

On Wednesday afternoon 70 runners and walkers hit the Elephant Park circuit to pit themselves against the clock for 3 laps. Karla Monks kept the family name in the winners circle by taking out the handicap win with a very even run 15.49.

Flying around the track to post a 25s Personal Best (PB) as well as the nights fastest overall time of 9.48 was Jared Sullivan, while Ursula Wilson continued her improvement when she ran 12.49 for an 8s PB.

The Orange Colour City Running Festival (Feb 22-23) is coming around fast. The committee is looking for prize donations so please see Lynda Chapman to get involved and allocated an age group. Also it might be a good time to put those new runners or running gear on your Christmas present wish list. For any information on the running festival or to register to run in one of our events you can find out more at: www.orangecolourcityrunningfestival.com.au”

This Sunday the run is at Jack Brabham with runs from 1 lap (1.75km) to 4 laps (7km).
