CWD : 11th March 2017
Last Sunday, 53 members of Orange Runners Club took on the steep and rugged Pinnacle run in cool, misty conditions. The previous day’s rain left a deeply rutted and cobble-strewn track, greatly adding to the trail running challenge. Distances on offer included 3km, 7km and 10km. Starting and finishing at the Pinnacle picnic area, this track is the club’s steepest Sunday run with elevation climbing to over 1200m, making it a great training run for the upcoming Volcanic Challenge.
In the 3k, the fastest males were Noah Lamrock (12:47), Ian Spurway (13:48) and Tyrone Rudman (15:06). For the ladies, it was Amber Rich (13:39), Ella Lamrock (14:49) and Penny Chandler (15:49). In the 7k, the fastest men were Alex Irwin (37:36), Anthony Wilson (38:08) and Greg Shapter (44:17) and the fastest lady was Alexandra Bailey (39:35) – an excellent result for her first outing with the club. Next it was Alison Spurway with 44:49, and Nicola Bailey with a strong 46:10. In the 10k, Iain McLean headed an all-male 10-strong field of with a brisk 46:47, followed by Mitch Essex (49:05) and Daryl Roweth. Penny Chandler was declared the winner. Well done!
On Wednesday afternoon, 66 runners participated in the weekly 2.9k handicap event at Elephant Park in cooler conditions. Fastest men were Mitch Essex (11:18), Jackson Boucher (11:32) and Mike Cooper (11:41), and the fastest ladies were Liz Simpson (11:47), Ella Lamrock (12:28), and Amelia Hogben (13:04). PBs were recorded by Amelia Hogben (34s), Rebecca Jaques (27s) and Milla Jurd (34s). Congratulations to all, especially to those with new PBs and to Owen Hogben, who was declared the winner.
