Whilst the club did not officially hold an event last Sunday, many members participated in the annual Great Volcanic Challenge, an 11km trail running event taking in the environs of Mount Canobolas as competitors or volunteers.

The fastest five Orange Running Club members were Jared Sullivan (1:01:15), Meg Reeves (1:01:21), Ethan Buesnel (1:02:21), Iain McLean (1:03:15) and Mitch Essex (1:03:15). Other notable performances included Kietta-Raye Shaw (1:49:43), Brian Penrose (2:39:43), Rikky Bangert (1:09:31), Elliot Bangert, and Harry Cummins (1:09:12). Well done to all who took part in what is a gruelling and treacherous event, and thanks to the members who gave up their Sunday morning to help out with marshalling.

The Wednesday afternoon Elephant Park 2.9k handicap event saw 72 competitors take part in very windy and muggy conditions. Iain McLean (11:33), Mitch Essex (11:37), Rikky Bangert (12:00) and Noah Lamrock (12:07) were the fastest finishers. PBs were achieved by Lewis Hannan (22s), Elle Wilton (5:13), Oliver Molloy (57s), and Helene Uys (2:40). Lewis Hannan was declared the winner. Well done to all!

This weekend, due to the club’s participation at Relay for Life, there is no Sunday morning run planned. However, there are still places remaining on the club’s Relay for Life Team if you wish to enter this fantastic event, and support a worthy cause. The club will be facilitating the timing for this event, with timing bibs still available. Visit the Orange Relay for Life website for more details.
Members should visit the club website on www.orangerunners.com.au for further details on membership benefits and events. Those interested in joining our club to take advantage of the opportunities offered should visit the club website for further information, and/or to join.

See you on the trail

Richard
