On Saturday night (3 Dec 2016) approx 82 members attended the annual ORC Christmas Party and Award presentation night at Orange Bowling Club, the event started with some put-put golf and lawn bowls, followed by a sit down dinner a visit by Santa, the night ended recognising the great achievements had by members for the year.

The following awards were announced for 2016:

Runner of the Year – Mike Cooper

Junior Runner of the Year – Lachlan Ross

Most Consistent ‘Overall’

Senior – Gary Taylor 83 runs. Junior – Hugh Daintith 72 runs.

Most Consistent ‘Wednesday runs’

Senior – Kim Jarvis 45 runs. Junior – Hugh Daintith 34 runs.

Most Improved ‘Sunday runs’

Over 55 – Judy Tarleton 58s. Open – Erin Gibson 5m7s. Junior – Cameron Ross 1m7s.

Most Improved ‘Wednesday runs’

Over 55 – John Betts 1m13s. Open – Wayne Sunderland 3m2s. Junior – Cameron Ross 1m7s.

Championship Pointscore winners

Over 55 Female – Man Ha Mackay 648. Male – Mike Cooper 863

Life Membership was awarded to Bill and Jane Fairgrieve and Graham Fahy for their contributions over the years to the club.

 

 

Last Sunday 66 Club members took on the new challenge of ‘Michael’s mad mile’. The course was one full lap of the longer Elephant Park loop down to the Aquatic Centre bridge and back.  The field was broken up into age groups with some interesting results, with the overall winner Jon Francis who did 6:50 for the one mile or 1.6km course. The top performers in each age group were:

1-3 – Banjo Reeves 9:03.

4-6 – Henry Reeves 9:02.

7-9 – Cameron Ross 7:59.

10-12 – Rikky Bangert 5:36, Elliot Bangert 6:09, Lachlan Ross 6:15.

16-18 – Jack Daintith 5:49.

At Elephant Park on Wednesday night President Renai McArdle was presented with the Central West Volunteer Sporting Spirit award from the NSW Department of Sport and Recreation represented by Bronwyn Coleman and Local Member for Orange, Phillip Donato MP, to make the presentation.

 

Of the 61 runners the fastest on the night were Iain McLean (10:24) and Ursula Wilson (12:35), while Keagan Wilson was the overall winner after completing the 3 laps in 31:42 which was a 14s Personal Best.

 

This weekend the Sunday run is at Favell Road, with the start at the Byng Church.
