Christmas is now upon us, and I am hoping that Santa is good to you and leaves you a new pair of runners or even a new watch. With New Year resolutions on the cards we all may include fitness and come and join Orange Runners Club. Also remember to check out the details of the Orange Running Festival on the 5th and 6th of March. Enjoy this special time with your family, stay safe and healthy – Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Last Sunday, 46 members ventured to Bargwanna Road to complete their Sunday run. I’d just like to personally say thank you to those that helped me out when my body decided to take a turn.

The leading club members in each distance were:

Female – Merissa Horne 21:33, Helen Roberts 34:59, Judy Tarleton 41:39.
Male – Mike Cooper 17:00, Andrew McArdle 17:41, Gary Taylor 19:34.

Female – Leanne Corcoran 22:57, Courtney Hayes 27:52, Sue Klose 29:38.
Male – Phil Cranney 24:15, Maxwell Horne 27:01, Mark Thomas 27:24.

Female – Nicola Blore 52:50, Alicia Anlezark 56:09, Juste Kucinskaite 59:33.
Male – Jack Daintith 40:13, Warwick Blackwell 44:53, Daryl Roweth 52:31.

On Wednesday afternoon, 38 members headed to Elephant Park for a run or walk completing 1, 2 or 3 laps. Top three males were Jack Daintith 9:51, Peter Finlay 9:57 and Hugh Daintith 12:39. Completing the top three ladies were Leanne Corcoran 12:17, Samantha Pluymers 14:26 and Yonneka Hill 14:50.

Personal bests were recorded this week by Peter Finlay 2 secs, Samantha Pluymers 2 secs and Sue Klose 25 secs.

This Sunday’s Boxing Day run is at Endeavour Oval, with the start between 8:30am and 9am. Please check the website for more course information. The distance of the lap is 2.5km and you have the choice to complete it 1 to 4 times. Another reminder to start applying sunscreen for protection from the sun and to bring a bottle of water for that post run thirst quencher.

Wednesday runs will commence at 4pm and you can run any time after that as long as you are finished by 5:30pm.
