Last Sunday, Orange Runners Club had its regular weekend run at The Pinnacle, where 53 runners had the choice of 3,7 and 10km out and back courses on rugged firetrails. The first 3 finishers by gender for each distance are as follows:

3K – Female: Michelle Munn (21:59), Man Ha Mackay (23:43) and Norma Bradley (28:57). Male: Michael Sharp (18:04), Gary Taylor (19:41) and David Munn (21:50).

7K – Female: Ella Lamrock (37:24), Tiffany McCormick (41:23) and Belinda MacCauley (21:55). Male: David Williamson (31:40), Noah Lamrock (34:34) and Jack Daintith (35:03).

10K –  Female: Leanne Corcoran (52:10), Renai McArdle (73:59) and Sue Betts (80:22). Male: Tim Murphy (47:56), Daryl Roweth (54:57) and Glen Diemar (56:09).

A big thumbs up to all who participated, Glen Diemar was declared the winner.
Externally, members took part in the Air New Zealand Half and Full Marathons. Alison Spurway ran the Half Marathon in 2:02, whilst Ian Spurway completed the Full Marathon in 3:49. In addition, a team of 3 including Iain McLean, Mitch Essex and Dave took on the 180km Great Southern Endurance Run in he Australian Alps, covering 180km between them.

In the Wednesday handicap event, 77 competitors took part in warm and somewhat overcast conditions. The fastest ladies were Ella Lamrock (12:18), Leanne Corcoran (12:21) and Amber Rich (12:34). The fastest men were Rikky Bangert (10:26), Tim Murphy (10:48) and Adam Reeves (11:15). Fastest lap of the Elephant Park circuit was clocked by Rikky Bangert at 3:16 for his first lap. PBs were achieved by Toby Sunderland and Rikky Bangert (4s), Paul Stamm (7s), Anne-Marie Ryan (45s), and Jack Flemming (2:10). Well done to all who took part, Anne-Marie Ryan was declared the winner.

This Sunday sees the club back at Elephant Park, where members have the choice of 1 to 6 laps of the regular 1.6km course. This coming Wednesday sees the final leg of the Junior Spring Racing Carnival Series happening at 5pm, with the regular run for adults occurring immediately after, followed by a sausage sizzle.
As the weather warms up, consider training at dawn or at night to take advantage of cooler conditions. Make sure to drink plenty of water, or electrolytes if you are having a longer session.
