EDITORIAL REPORT FOR SATURDAY’s CWD June 26th, 2021

Congratulations to those members that participated in the Glow Worm Tunnel Running Festival and the Bay to Bay Running Festival. The results achieved by our members in attendance were fantastic. 

Last Sunday, 55 members enjoyed the scenic run at Spring creek.   

The leading club members in each distance were: 

2.4km
Female – Belle Fisher 13:54, Becky Went 16:45, Claire Wright 18:28.

Male – John Hannan 25:36. 

4.8km
Female – Lauren Reid 18:29, Nicola Blore 21:58, Bec Davis 22:15.

Male – Peter Finlay 18:38, Iain Mclean 19:30, Hugh Daintith 22:21. 

7.2km
Female – Amy Robinson 37:46, Lyn O’mara 54:29, Judy Tarleton 59:40.

Male – Russell Tym 42:18, Andrew McArdle 59:49. 

9.6km
Female – Alicia Anlezark 49:19, Ursula Wilson 52:05, Kim Jarvis 57:53.

Male – Luke Hockey 37:12, Jack Daintith 40:18, Tim Robinson 40:29. 

The rain held off giving us pretty decent weather for 61 members took to Elephant Park to run or walk around the track completing 1, 2 or 3 laps. Top three males were Connor Whiteley 8:23, Chris Pooley 9:47 and Luke Hockey 10:00. Completing the top three ladies were Courtney Hayes 13:00, Alicia Anlezark 13:31 and Pip Farquharson 14:15. Special mention to Connor Whiteley achieving a new club record for 3 laps of 8:23. This was 6 seconds faster than the current record set by Mitch Williamson. 

Personal bests were recorded this week by Connor Whiteley 12s, Sebastian Lloyd 13s, Courtney Hayes 20s, Derek Thompson 1s and Luke Hockey 17s. 

Congratulations to our achievement medal receivers this week: Lily Craig 600 club runs. 

Tomorrow’s run is at Lake Canobolas. The loop measures 2.5km and you have the choice to complete 1 to 4 laps. Also putting out a reminder, that we are still operating under COVID-19 regulations. On Wednesday’s, timing begins at 4pm and will cease at 5:15pm. On Sunday’s, you must start between 8.30am and 9am. On both days still encouraging members to arrive, run and depart.

  • July 11th – Botanic Gardens 
  • July 18th – Emu Swamp Road 
  • July 25th – Clergate 

The safety guideline for this week is to be aware of other people using the lake and sticking to the side where possible as you run or walk around the lake. 

Race briefs/announcements/presentations are still cancelled on a Wednesday– this will instead be done via email and on the Facebook page. On Sunday’s we will now have a briefing at 8:30 just before the running begins.
