Ya Gotta Love Bryce and Kyle!!!

The Orange Runners’ Club had a bbq lunch last Sunday at Elephant Park to celebrate the arrival of Spring. The warmer temperatures and longer days should mean that we will be able to brush off a few cobwebs by doing a bit more training!

In conjunction with the bbq, the Ostini family were raising money for the Cancer Council. Kyle Ostini had his hair dyed red, whereas Bryce Ostini didn’t have to worry about his hair colour, as he had it shaved off. Lucky it is warming up Bryce!  $1,550 was donated to the Cancer Council.

Before the festivities we had to get through the business side of the meeting. 93 runners greeted the starters gun, with Ross Kerwick taking handicap honours.

Outright results for Elephant Park run 3.2k Male: 1st Connor Whiteley (13.16), 2nd Brett Rosser (15.08), 3rd Joseph Sio (17.12); 3.2k Women: 1st Katelyn Strike (16.12), 2nd Lily Craig (16.25), 3rd Jane Fairgrieve (17.49); 8k Male: 1st Tom Gleeson (28.29), 2nd Neil Williams (31.34), 3rd Jared Sullivan (34.24); 8k Women: 1st Melissa Ashton-Garrard (34.43), 2nd Amber Rich (35.06), 3rd Penny Chandler (41.24).

90 runners took part in the mid week run at Elephant Park. Ideal running conditions meant there were going to be personal best times set. Sure enough, pb’s were recorded by Brandon Connolly (1 sec), Janet Martin and Mitch Williamson (2 secs), Alison Kettel (7 sec), Hugh Daintith (12 sec), Leanne Kerwick (28 sec) and Olivia Kerwick (45 sec). Ezekiel Sio was the handicap winner and no surprises in Mitch Williamson doing the quickest time (8.52). Mitch is only about 10 seconds away from the quickest time ever to be recorded on this 3k course. The race record was set by Frank Tickner, from England, who was on a 1 year athletics coaching scholarship at Kinross Wolaroi School, about 10 years ago.

If anyone has information they would like to add to the weekly club report during Spring, the new Publicity Officers are James Hennessy and Laura Wolfson. Jane Fairgrieve and Tom Gleeson have done their time!

We run at Gosling Creek Dam this Sunday at 10am (4.6k/9.6k) and please note that our mid week run at Elephant Park (3k) now starts at 5pm.

Tom Gleeson.
