Last Sunday, Orange Runner’s Club held its monthly Trail Run, an 11.5km effort starting and finishing at Mitchell’s Way, attended by 16 participants. The fastest three women were Leanne Corcoran (65:05), Alicia Ross (84:27) and Danielle Klingberg (85:07), whilst the fastest three men were Iain McLean (56:46), Ian Spurway (65:40) and Greg Shapter (65:45)The regular weekend run was held at Lake Canobolas, where 79 runners had the choice of one through to four laps of the picturesque 2.5km course. The first 3 finishers by gender for each distance are as follows:

1 Lap – Female: Amber Rich (11:28), Lily Craig (13:04) and Kerry Lindsay (13:54). Male: Gary Taylor (14:44), Craig Penrose (15:06) and Cameron McLean (17:47).

2 Laps – Female: Ella Lamrock (25:11), Belinda McCauley (27:40) and Kim Jarvis (30:49). Male: Noah Lamrock (22:13), Hugh Daintith (23:05) and Alistair Merrifield (23:42).

3 Laps – Mixed: Joel Kitto (39:20), Tony Fitzpatrick (40:10), Russell Tym (43:30), Julie Fitzpatrick (47:53), Brian Rix (48:37) and Richard Eggleston (57:33)

4 Laps – Female: Meg Reeves (44:57), Maggie McIntosh (49:17) and Rihanna Fitzpatrick (51:29). Male: Iain McLean (42:43), Anthony Daintith (50:13) and Daryl Roweth (50:38).

A giant thumbs up to all who participated, Cameron McLean was declared the winner. Fastest lap of the morning belonged to Jared Sullivan, who did his first 2.5km lap in 10:26.

The Wednesday afternoon Elephant Park 3 lap handicap event saw 77 competitors take part in pleasantly warm conditions. The fastest ladies were Alicia Ross (13:04), Ella Lamrock (13:23) and Milla Jurd (14:04). The fastest men were Rikky Bangert (11:09), Mark Chapman (12:04) and Elliot Bangert (12:25). Fastest lap of the Elephant Park circuit was clocked by Rikky Bangert at 3:29 for his first lap. PB’s were achieved by Edward MacLean (16s), Max MacLean (47s), Anna Daintith (6s), Lyndal Molloy (2:43) and Oliver Molloy (6s). Well done to all who took part, Tyrone Rudman was declared the winner.

This Sunday sees the club back at Favell Road at 9am, where members have the choice of 3k, 5.8k, 8.1k and 11.2k routes incorporating some very challenging hills. This coming Wednesday sees the 2nd leg of the Junior Spring Racing Carnival, where our junior runners will compete in 1-3 lap races around Elephant Park for ribbons. This will commence at 5pm, with the regular handicap event occurring immediately afterwards.

As the weather warms up, members should consider sun protection or other skin cancer preventative measures. Consider training in the early morning or late in the afternoon when the UV levels are not as high. If running in the middle of the day, sunscreen and/or a long sleeve top and hat are an absolute must to keep the skin cancer at bay!
