Last Sunday, Orange Runners Club had its monthly trail run, a 9.8K affair in Kinross Forest. The first three ladies home were Meg Reeves (51:28), Leanne Corcoran (53:30) and Alicia Ross (64:51), whilst the first three men were Jack Daintith (51:09), Tim Murphy (51:26) and Anthony Daintith (51:38).

Later on, the regular Sunday run was held at CSU Orange, where 47 runners had the choice of one to six laps of the hilly 1.6K course. The first 3 finishers by gender for each distance are as follows:

1 lap (1.6K) – Female: Alicia Ross (9:51), Meg Reeves (11:30) and Rosie Corcoran (12:03). Male: David Ross (9:57), Henry Reeves (10:40) and Banjo Reeves (12:02)

2 laps (3.2K) – Female: Amber Rich (14:23), Ella Lamrock (15:14) and Kate Harris (18:27). Male: David Aseguinolaza (20:44), Martin Ryan (22:41) and Brian Penrose (22:55)

3 laps (4.8k) – Female: Man Ha Mackay (32:16), Melissa Fogarty (35:10) and Judy Tarleton (35:25). Male: Tim Murphy (20:14), Adam Reeves (20:56) and Lachlan Ross (22:54)

4 laps (6.4k) – Female: Leanne Corcoran (31:25) and Glenys Rosser (49:04). Male: Alistair Merrifield (31:08), Frank Ostini (31:34) and Jamie Corcoran (34:34).

5 laps (8k) – Female: Renai McArdle (51:21), Anna Daintith (54:15). Male: Russell Tym (46:23) and John Moss (50:59).

6 laps (9.6k) – Female: Kim Jarvis (61:00). Male: Anthony Daintith (44:10), Mitch Essex (46:42) and Andrew McArdle (52:24).

A big thumbs up to all who participated, Judy Tarleton was declared the winner. Tim Murphy clocked that fastest lap of the morning, with a 6:32 on his 2nd lap.

The weekend also saw the Australian Running Festival held in Canberra, with 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon and Ultra Marathon events being run. Notable efforts that the author is aware of, from club members, includes the following:

5K: Sue Betts (31:34)

Half Marathon: Ursula Wilson (1:38:41), Daryl Roweth (1:41:56), John Betts (1:48:33), Nic Thomas (1:51:20)

Marathon: Gareth Thomas (3:54:20), Richard Eggleston (4:01:24), Brett Sammut (5:10:21)

Apologies to anyone who may have been missed.

On Wednesday, 66 competitors took part in the regular 3 lap handicap event, under cooler conditions. The fastest ladies were Alicia Ross (11:46), Ella Lamrock (12:01) and Milla Jurd (13:28). The fastest men were Connor Whiteley (9:46), Rikky Bangert (10:09) and Tim Murphy (10:22). PBs were achieved by Rikky Bangert (10s), Alicia Ross (39s), Anna Daintith (39s), Milla Jurd (24s), Kate Harris (1:05), Katie Wright (11s), Rachel Wilkins and Rebecca Kennedy (40s), and Michael Duncan (1:40). Well done to all who took part, Rebecca Kennedy was declared the winner.

In March, the following members achieved milestone runs with the club:

Mel Bolton 25, Jack Judge 25, Milla Jurd 25, Jack Flemming 25, Richard Eggleston 300 and Julie Chapman 400.

This Sunday sees the club back at Elephant at 9am, where members can try one to five laps of the regular 1.6K course. This coming Wednesday sees the regular 3-lap handicap event at 5pm. Club members should be aware of the AGM to be held after the Sunday Run on 22 April at Elephant Park (Approximately starting just after 10am). All positions are open, for members to put their own mark on running our fantastic club.
