Sullivan powers home over longest distance

On Sunday around 90 members took advantage of a break in the weather, to venture out to the Gosling Creek area to tackle the Bargwanna Road club run. Fresh from his Mount Arthur Challenge open victory last weekend, Jared Sullivan powered along to be a clear winner over the 10km journey, in a super time of 38:37. Brad Simmons (43:47) seemed content to run along and have a yarn with Leanne Corcoran for the first five kilometres and still managed to finish comfortably in second spot. I / Dasha (45:29) managed to keep my nose in front of the very even chasing pack, whom all seemed to enjoy the long run as a good opportunity to get and keep warm.

Karyn Vardanega (54:35) set the pace amongst the ladies finishing in front of Amanda Gregor (58:18) and Pam Fullgrabe who finished right on the hour mark. Congratulations also to Bailey Penrose, who tackled the difficult 10km for the first time and finished in a very creditable 64:47.

Over the 5km course, Jack Daintith (20:25) was the fastest as he led home a mostly experienced field with David Craig (23:18) coming home second and Tony Fitzpatrick (23:45) third.

Amber Rich (21:47) was the quickest of the ladies again, to finish the 5km run, just ahead of Leanne Corcoran (22:22) and Karen Neal (25:20).

Over the 3km course youngster Joshua Gray again set the pace with a speedy 13:41, to lead home another young gun in Lachlan Ross (14:26) with Craig Penrose (16:01) taking up the battle for the older generations as he ran into third spot. For the ladies Pip Farquharson (14:33) was the quickest leading home Kerrie Lindsay (16:18) and Emily Pell (17:00). Thomas Pell was the overall winner on the day running a solid time of 17:14 for the 3km.

Around 70 dedicated ‘runners club’ members battled the wet track, with the threat of more rain at any moment. As runners took off for the Wednesday Elephant Park 3 laps the weather got progressively worse and many a runner finished much wetter than they started. Mitch Williamson as usual, was super quick, as he did the 3 laps in 8:54, while Liz Simpson was the fastest lady and third fastest overall running a time of 11:07 and securing the overall win on the night. Personal Best times were recorded by Hayden Scrimshaw who did a time of 17:26 which is a 4m34s PB and Bailey Penrose who backed up his long Sunday run and ran 14:17, which is a 1m4s PB.

For anyone interested there are two Runners Club T-shirts for sale that were incorrectly ordered and have not been worn. They are both X-large size, one white and one black. Normally cost $30 each, selling for $20 each. Please see Renai or Andrew McArdle.

This weekend the Sunday club run is at Stagecoach Road starting at 9am. This is a testing but enjoyable run out in the fresh country air.
